I just come back from 6 weeks in semarang. Theres stuff happening there which can make it worth a visit for a week. Club 123 in the Novotel is the newest 'in' place with a fair amount of local chicken frequenting the place after 1130. Tios is still going, but 123 has taken over as the place to go, but starqueen is still the hottest place, especially Wednesday nights.

Hi all,
Find attached a pic of a girl I met in club 123. From what I could gather her name is Rinrin, I tried for hours to get it right, but that was as close as I could get. I'm in Semarang now and I can't agree with the people who said there's no action here. There aren't as many bars full of working girls as there are in other cities, but they're here. I went out to 123 at the Novotel last night (Tuesday night) and out of the 20 or so people there 7 or 8 were obviously willing to be banged for money. 5 or 6 of them were very sexy little young things. There were a couple others who were just there to practice English and hang around with foreigners, one of whom I took back to my hotel long time for free. I'm still relatively young and not that much older than the girl, so maybe it would be harder for guys much older, but this girl picked ME up and even bought a drink for me and paid for the taxi despite my protests.
That girl also took me to Starqueen. Seemed like a place to find regular good girls. Whenever I walked off to the toilet some girls would always greet me and show some interest. It was pretty busy even on a Tuesday, but the girl told me to never come on Wednesdays or weekends because it's too crowded to move.
The Bule rockstar effect is very strong in Semarang, and wherever I go girls make eyes at me and smile, shout "I love you", etc. I went into a department store to use the bathroom, and when I came out a crowd of female staff had gathered to talk with me. Haven't been in Semarang for five years or so, but would guess that little has changed. And there's not much info here so probably worth checking out.
Most (maybe all) in-house massage girls at Ciputra offer full service.
There's a bar called the the On-On Pub (close to Hotel Rinjani). A bit hit and miss, but its a favourite of a lot of the foreign furniture dealers, so attracts quite a few girls looking for western boyfriends/husbands. Never met a girl who was looking for money there, but quite a few looking for a western boyfriend even if it was short term.
Also heard that there's a red light district at a place called Sunan Kuning. Never went there so no idea what it may be like. Just tried googling it and it certainly still seems to be there.

I have not posted for a while, so I think its time to add some hopefully valuable information about my experiences in Semarang where I stayed for 24 hours lately.
I arrived at noon and went staight to the Novotel to fresh up a bit. 5 minutes later I found myself in a taxi to the first location I got told by a fellow forum member (thanks SIJ).
The location is called Rinjani Hotel (at least thats what you need to tell the taxi driver). Its a little complex in the hilly area. When you enter, you see a couple of doors: Left in the corner is a Karaoke Club, right is the Hotel (i guess) and straight (a bit left) is a Sign Sauna - thats the entrance to choose. I told the guy at the bar that I wanna have a look and he showed me the fish bowl with around 10 girls - all acceptable but not stunning. I made my call (6, forgot the name).
We went up into a clean room with an attached bathroom. After having a quick shower I requested a BBBJ but she refused initially. I talked her somehow into it but she did not like it and was not very enthusiastic.
Since I was horny, I noticed that it wont last long so I unloaded my tension on her big boobs very soon. A quick wash again and the massage began. Shiatsu was painful because she was quite heavy. Visted a new spa that just opened on Jl. Imam Bonjol (across the street from a gas station). Facilities fairly decent and the place is very clean.
Took a number and shown to the standard room followed by a decent looking indo girl. She gave a decent massage, nothing to shout about. After a little persuasion from me, I got a HJ to cap the 90-minute session. All in all a good way to end the day. Damage: About 300 rp all inclusive the HJ and tips (25% grand opening discount)

Back in the 'rang for a few days, its been over a year. 123, Rinjani etc closed on Sunday night (can't recall if they always did, I think 123 opened all week, I stay at the novotel), but starqueens was open. Got there 1230, nothng happening, so got my cabby to take me to 'ruang wanita'. He took me to 3 houses near simpang Lima, with prices from 400-800, 000. The girls were pretty and young enough, but obviously none of them enjoyed what was happening so I didn't play, and it was far too expensive for the 'rang. Finally at 1. 45 we ended up in a complex near the airport. 2 streets with girls sitting in front of houses. Price was 100, 000. Except for bule. 150, 000 plus 20, 000 'approval stamp' from the boss. Today I went mongering in ciputra mall, not much action there, a few interested hellos but nothing solid. Night time started off at 123, a bit disappointing, but ended up at hugos' which used to be the old ambassador, or embassy, can't recall which. For a Monday night it was full of young people, great band. Lots of action, not many bule (two actually. Me and my mate). This place is 100% on what it used to be and seems to be the club of choice at the moment. Went back to Jl Argorego to try and nail Monday nights effort there's friend. This one was all for 3way action, but again her friend wouldn't be in it. Top place.

3) Tea shop girls: I had a local driver during the day, so I asked him about the “po-ci” tea shops with the “ciblek” young girls at Simpang Lima that were mentioned in the post by The Exile. He laughed and said that they were only in operation beginning Thursday evening, and since I was in town on a Tuesday evening, I was out of luck.
4) “Houses”: around 10 p.m., a taxi driver took me to four separate places where girls are available for take-away to your hotel. The first three places had only 35-ish women, and only a total of 4 women for all 3 places, I quickly passed on all. The fourth place had only one very young-looking girl who had a terrified look on her face once she saw that I was a foreigner, so I passed on her as well.
The first two places asked for 400,000 rupiah for short-time then dropped to 350,000 rupiah, the last two places started at an amazing 500,000 rupiah for short-time, quickly dropped to 400,000 rupiah once I started bargaining in bahasa Indonesian. Still, too high!
5) Shinta Spa at Hotel Rinjani: by the time I got here (almost 11 p.m.) they were closing for the night. There were two ladies wearing uniforms standing by the front door, not sure if they were masseuses or receptionists, but both were over 30 and unattractive.
6) Jalan Argorejo VII: this is a “miniature Dolly” -like street near the airport, mentioned by Field Mouse in his report six months ago. It’s one long block on a narrow hilly street, with around 100-125 girls sitting in groups of 5-8 in front of several local houses (each girl lives in a room in the house, similar to the Dolly setup). There’s also a karaoke pub named Barbie’s Doll House halfway up on the right that was closed by the time I was there (11:20 p.m.).
The percentage of decent-looking girls was higher than I thought it would be, at least 50 percent of the girls were in their early 20s and decent-looking (no obviously-underage girls here). There were several taxis at the foot of the hill and a strong sense of security and organization here. I appeared to be the only bule (foreigner) there.
I walked up and down the entire street for several minutes, ended up picking a 20 year old named Setya, from Solo (near Yogyakarta), cute face, chunky body (but something very nice about her), from one of the houses towards the bottom of the hill. The price was as Field Mouse mentioned, 150,000 rupiah for a foreigner, with a 15,000 rupiah “security” fee (not sure what this is, maybe a bribe to the local police?). I asked one mamasan if they charged locals only 100,000 rupiah, she insisted that everyone was charged 150,000 (I didn’t believe her).
When we were outside we spoke only in bahasa Indonesian, but once we got into her room, I discovered that Setya spoke excellent English, seemed very educated, and was very pleasant to be with. She showed me a certificate stating that, in December 2007 she had attended a 4-day training program co-conducted by the Australian and US governments on safe sex and the dangers of HIV/AIDS (I know one of the persons who signed the certificate!). Setya was very proud of her certificate and stated that all of the girls in her house would only have sex with condoms.
She said that she had worked there for almost a year, works seven nights a week, from 7 p.m. until 1 or 2 a.m., usually only one customer per night, most ever was 3 one night, and she hates her job. I was her first foreigner, she said that she rarely sees foreigners on the street.
The actual session was excellent, outstanding cowgirl performance. If Setya were in Jakarta, I’d definitely see her regularly! Afterwards, we cuddled and talked for a long time, the session went well over an hour. After I bought my water, both motorcycles trailed me back to the hotel, I guess business was slow that night.
8) I never checked out any night clubs, nor did I go mall-hunting. Sorry!

I spend the last two nights in Semarang. Arriving at about 18:30 in the Novotel after a day driving though remote areas in Central Java. After a shower I went to Shinta Spa at Hotel Rinjani. The place was apparently very busy and only 5 girls were in the fish tank when I arrived. Picked No 21. Went upstairs and only one large room was available and a few small rooms. I was in Semarang recently and expected to be unsuccessful on several counts based on the fact that it was the middle of the month of Ramadan.
I stayed at Hotel Santika, conveniently situated near to the Simpang Lina junction.
I went 'Mall hunting' at 4 in the afternoon, to find a lot of potentially good looking FL's hanging around the Cinema area. Guys, I am 21 days away from leaving jakarta for good, and am going to the 'rang in a couple of weeks for an overnighter. Does anyone have any new info on the'rang? I had a dissapointing trip last week staying at the Novotel.
123club seems ok with old girls hang out looking for a desperate foriegner which I was. However, not THAT desperate I suppose so declined their proposal.

stayed at Gumaya towers. This hotel is nice but designed by leading walk of shame type architect. Long walk down lobby & round past reception on the way to the lifts. not easy to sneak chicken into hotel in daytime or early evening.
Ironic part of this was not easy to find chicken either. after reading about Simpang Lima & Semarang was expecting happy time but finding chicken was hard work. hugos at plaza simpang lima was pretty much empty . a couple of girls but not sure if WL or not.
